Uttarakhand's first IVF Baby

Uttarakhand's first IVF baby (test tube baby) was born in the capital, Dehradun in the foot hills of Himalayas and on January 13th June 2001 by Dr.Pratibha Saini at Saini IVF & Fertility Research Centre. This was a great achievement because it was the first IVF baby of Western U.P and Uttarakhand, previously known as Uttaranchal.

First ICSI Baby

First Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) baby was born on 18th Sept. 2003 which involves aspirating single healthy sperm from the testis of the male and then, fertilizing the ovum of the female. This technique is useful in male infertility cases where the sperm count is so low/ or absent, but the spermatozoa are still produced inside the testis.
